Have an environmental dialogue.
Montreal, Nov 23, 2018, 6:47 pm (“Environmental Dialogues” action; from Pauline’s Sonic Meditations document)
Action notes: Following instructions: I settle in the living room, with O playing the next room over and N on the couch next to me. I observe my breathing. It feels a little shallow and forced. I start to point my ears in various directions, listening to the sounds around me. I decide to follow the instruction for “reinforcing the pitch of the sound source” mentally, rather than vocally or with an instrument (the other two options given). What this ends up meaning to me is translating the sounds of my environment into pitches that turn everything, imaginatively, into kind abstract musical-scape.
Action constraints: I do periodically “lose touch” with the source (as per the instructions). Usually, it is because I get a little bored. I am tired today. The family is around. It feels harder to focus. And they are all rambunctious today. What I need is Pauline’s “radical acceptance” action.
